Saving Grace is the latest chapter in Robert Plant’s creative musical journey, as he continues to explore vintage and modern roots music.
The band formed in 2019 through a chance meeting between Robert and guitarist and banjo player Matt Worley in a pub near his English-Welsh borders home. They called on guitarist Tony Kelsey and singer Suzi Dian alongside her husband, percussionist Oli Jefferson for their early forays, to be later joined by cellist Barney Morse-Brown.
Drawn together by a shared love of blues, folk, gospel, country and sounds that lay in between, the group explores how these genres are evolving and how collectively they could reinvigorate the music they loved – creating a roots-orientated sound, inspired by folk and traditional blues.
After six years in the making, last year saw the release of Saving Grace’s eponymously titled album containing 10 cover versions of songs by various artists and they followed the album with the four-track EP Saving Grace: All That Glitters… to further explore the folk and Americana sound they love.
